What Instagram sends vs. what you want
Instagram’s Share → WhatsApp button pastes a link to the Reel. For your friend that means leaving WhatsApp, opening Instagram (and logging in if they aren’t) and, if the account is private or the Reel was deleted, seeing nothing. Sending the video file avoids all of that: it plays right in the chat.
Step by step
- Open the Reel in Instagram, tap the share arrow (the paper plane) and choose Copy link. Links that look like instagram.com/reel/… or instagram.com/share/… both work.
- Open vidpls.com and paste the link, or type vidpls.com/ in front of it in your address bar. On Android with vidpls installed, pick vidpls from Instagram’s share menu.
- Keep “Video · MP4” and tap Download. If you only want the music, switch to “Audio · MP3”.
- Tap Share → WhatsApp, or save it to your gallery and attach it from WhatsApp.
Carousels and photos
If the post is a carousel, vidpls shows every slide so you can save the one you want. Photos download at full size; see the Instagram photo downloader.
What doesn’t work
Private accounts, Stories and Highlights. Only public Reels and posts can be fetched, because vidpls never uses your Instagram login.
Frequently asked questions
Does the Reel keep its sound?
Yes. The MP4 includes the audio exactly as it plays on Instagram.
Can I send it from an iPhone?
Yes. Use Safari, tap Download and then Share → WhatsApp, or Save Video to add it to Photos first. vidpls converts the file so Photos accepts it.
Is there a watermark?
No. Instagram serves Reels without a watermark, so the file is clean.
Is this allowed?
Use vidpls with videos you made or have permission to share. Platform rules and copyright still apply. See the terms of use.
Is vidpls free?
Yes. No sign-up, no ads, no limits. If it saves you time you can leave a tip on Ko-fi, but nothing is locked behind it.
