How to save an X (Twitter) video on iPhone

X has no save button for videos. Safari and vidpls do it in a few taps, straight to Photos.

Step by step in Safari

  1. In the X app, tap the share icon under the post and choose Copy link. t.co links work too.
  2. Open Safari, go to vidpls.com and paste the link (or type vidpls.com/ before the link in the address bar).
  3. Tap Download. If the video needs it, vidpls converts it so Photos accepts it; this happens on your iPhone and takes a few seconds.
  4. In the share sheet, tap Save Video to put it in Photos, or pick WhatsApp or Messages to send it right away.

GIFs and posts with several videos

GIFs on X are really short MP4 videos, so they save the same way. If a post has more than one video, vidpls lists them so you can pick.

Quality

When X offers several qualities you get the highest one, which is what plays when you open the post on a good connection.

What doesn’t work

Posts from protected accounts, and videos X marks as unavailable in your region.

Frequently asked questions

Why didn’t it go to Photos?

Choose Save Video (not Save to Files) in the share sheet. If Save Video isn’t offered, the file may still be converting; wait for the Download button to finish.

Do I need the X app?

No. Copying the link from the app is the easiest way, but a link copied from the X website works the same.

Does it work on Android and PC too?

Yes: the same steps in Chrome or any browser.

Can I keep only the sound?

Pick “Audio · MP3” to get just the sound. See X to MP3.

Is this allowed?

Use vidpls with videos you made or have permission to share. Platform rules and copyright still apply. See the terms of use.

Is vidpls free?

Yes. No sign-up, no ads, no limits. If it saves you time you can leave a tip on Ko-fi, but nothing is locked behind it.
